Tourist Struck By Jet Ski On Biscayne Bay

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A man visiting from New York had to be rescued after he was struck by a personal watercraft near Monument Island.

According to witnesses, the man was hit while he was simply standing in the water. Those nearby were able to flag down a Miami Fire Rescue boat for help.

The fireboat crew was able to secure the man onto the boat and transport him to Bayside Marketplace where paramedics transported him to Ryder Trauma Center.

A friend of the victim said the jet ski's driver beached the watercraft and disappeared into the crowd during the commotion.
