Toddlers Pulled From Pool Now In Stable Condition

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Two toddlers pulled from a North Miami home's pool are now in stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The children, a boy and girl, ages one and two years old, were unresponsive when they were found in the pool by a family member around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

They were upgraded from critical to stable condition on Wednesday and are now breathing on their own.

"They took them in a stretcher and were giving them CPR, they were restarting them," said neighbor Rosa Peralta, overcome with emotion. "I don't ever want to talk much about it."

The children, their parents and grandmother live at the North Miami home, located at 1150 N.E. 129th Street.

The pool has no gate but it's unclear how the children ended up in the water. Police said a family member found them and pulled them out, then started CPR and called 911.

The children were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and put in the trauma unit.

"This is always very difficult for police and for fire when they respond to something like this because we always associate it with our own personal families and we always have a difficult time, but we try and do our best and try and support the family the best that we can," said Cmdr. Rafael Estrugo.

An investigation is underway.
