Today Is The Last Day To Sign Up For 'Obamacare'

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Time is almost up to sign up for the Affordable Care Act, also known as 'Obamacare.'

The original deadline was last Thursday but it was extended to Monday due to high demand.

Those wanting coverage January 1st need to sign up today.

"Monday, December 19th will definitely be the last day to enroll into Affordable Care Act plans in order to have coverage effective the 1st of January 2017. It's very important for people to enroll before then in order to have your coverage effective. If not, they have to wait until February to be able to have an insurance plan active," said enrollment specialist Odalys Arevalo.

Many people are worried about what will happen to their insurance under the incoming Trump administration.

President Barack Obama said more than 670 thousand people signed up for coverage last week.
