TMZ: "7th Heaven" Dad Confesses To Child Sex Abuse

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There's been a disturbing confession from well-known actor Stephen Collins.

According to TMZ, they've obtained an audio tape of the 67-year-old 7th Heaven actor, in which he allegedly confesses to child molestation while talking to his estranged wife Faye Grant in 2012.

TMZ states Collins didn't know he was being taped during the conversation which took place during a therapy session with Grant as the two were going through a divorce.

Grant recorded the conversation without his knowledge, according to the website.

An official in the The New York Police Department told TMZ they are now in possession of the tape, and have started an official criminal investigation of the actor for "inappropriate sexual contact with minors." According to the official, there are "at least three victims."

According to TMZ, conversations can be secretly taped for evidence in California in the course of gathering evidence if the other person has committed a possible felony.

Collins is best known for playing Reverend Eric Camden on the family drama 7th Heaven from 1996 to 2007. He ended his 27-year marriage to Grant back in May 2012.
