Police: Man Arrested After Trying To Run Over Officer In Hialeah Chase

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) -- One man is in custody after a chase in Hialeah Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they went to make a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving a known drug house in northwest Miami-Dade.

When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver, Alan Luis Suarez, lowered the window.

However, as the officer got closer, police said Suarez turned the steering wheel towards the officer and accelerated the vehicle.

The officer was able to push off the car and get away.

The driver then fled northbound on NW 30th Avenue.

Eventually, the car crashed into another parked car near 27th Street and West 8th Avenue.

Once out of the vehicle, Suarez reportedly refused to follow the officer's commands and re-entered the vehicle in an attempt to flee.

Police used a taser on the Suarez to subdue him.

Chopper4 was at the scene where the chase ended.

A red Lincoln navigator was seen near at least six police cars.

A fire rescue ambulance was also spotted nearby.

None of the officers were injured during the incident.

Suarez faces multiple charges from the Miami-Dade Police Department and Hialeah Police Department.

He faces assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding charges from the Miami-Dade Police Department.
