Three Dead After Car Accident In Central Florida

LAKELAND (CBSMiami/AP) — A tragic accident took place on a main roadway in central Florida.

Three people are dead after car accident in Lakeland.

Lakeland police said 26-year-old Michael Marrero lost control of his vehicle Saturday and crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. 98. Marrero struck a Nissan driven by 22-year-old Christopher Stewart.

Stewart's vehicle ran off the road and rolled over. Stewart and 22-year-old passenger Kathrin R. Pitock were declared dead at the scene.

Both were Lakeland residents. A third passenger died at a hospital.

Police said Sunday the third victim hadn't been positively identified.

Marrero was taken to a hospital. Police did not release his condition. Police did not say if Marrero will be charged.
