According to BSO, the child was transported as a pediatric trauma alert patient.

"They were walking on the right side of Bryan Road and it was dark," BSO spokesperson Dani Moschella said late Monday night.

Detectives said the vehicle is a two-door, white, Toyota pickup truck or SUV.

Investigators say the driver left behind a critical clue.

"This is the emblem from the vehicle's grille," said Moschella as she held up the familiar logo which adorns all Toyota vehicles. "We are asking anyone who saw what happened to call the Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide unit.

The passenger side fog light is missing from the vehicle and the headlight is broken.

Detectives said an after-the-fact witness saw a white Toyota fleeing the scene and alerted police.

Both victims are in critical condition, a spokesperson for BSO said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
