ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) - An Orlando police officer is recovering after he was run over by a teen trying to escape a traffic stop.

On Monday, officer William Anderson pulled over a car after getting reports of shots fired. Dashboard video from Anderson's vehicle shows him stopping his vehicle and then rushing toward the car with his gun drawn.

As Anderson reaches the driver's window, a passenger jumps out the other door. Anderson appears to run in front of the car. That's when the driver accelerates, hitting Anderson.

A bystander used his car to block traffic and protect Anderson. The officer was taken to the hospital where he was listed as stable.

Police caught up to the 17-year old driver on Tuesday and charged him with attempted second degree murder.
