Taste Of The Town's Bar-B-Que Ribs Chicken & Jerk; A Barbecue Lover's Paradise

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – If you're a fan of good barbecue and homemade dishes like creamy mac and cheese, peas and rice, and collard greens, you may want to check out Taste of the Town's Bar-B-Que Ribs Chicken & Jerk.

CBS4's Lisa Petrillo lined up with the rest of the loyal customers at Bar-B-Que Ribs Chicken & Jerk, located at 12101 NW 27th Ave in Miami.

It's been described as a barbecue lover's paradise; a small, mostly take-out shack serving what many say is the best barbecue in town.

"I started out across the street about six years ago and I was able to get together with a couple of friends and I built this empire right now," said owner Darcy Jenkins.

An empire that began as a pop up restaurant in a strip club parking lot is now across the street, in its own building. The staff is busy around the clock with takeout orders for customers—many of which are loyal customers.

Petrillo asked Maurice, a customer, what his favorite thing is on the menu. He answered, "the barbecue chicken and ribs—delicious."

Darcy and his team of creative cooks prepare made-to-order dishes that include everything from the classic barbecue dishes to much more.

"We have our famous ribs and we include old fashion items like turkey wings, meatloaf, oxtails, short beef rib," manager Kenneth Ivory told Petrillo.

The restaurant's famous mac and cheese, prepared fresh daily, is made with condensed milk.

The restaurant also serves up fried crabs—an idea that came from a friend who has the Crab Shack.

The fried king crab legs, dipped in butter, remind Petrillo of being in the islands.

The jerk chicken is spicy and authentic with the secret Jamaican jerk sauce on it. Petrillo tried the chicken—with a side of the Shack's popular rice and peas.

"The coconut milk on it gives it coconut taste—delicious and smooth," said Petrillo.

The ribs, Petrillo said, have a little mustard and spice. Also—the meat falls of the bone.

Bar-B-Que Ribs Chicken & Jerk is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
