TAMPA (CBSMiami/AP) — A Tampa boy who disappeared a week ago was the apparent victim of a fatal hit-and-run, according to police.

The Tampa Police Department said that Alexander Torres, 11, was struck while on a bridge and taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead Saturday. The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.

Torres had been reported as a missing juvenile to Hillsborough County authorities Friday evening.

He was last seen riding his bicycle from school that day. Authorities said he had been in trouble at school and his mother reprimanded him.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of a suspect who was driving a metallic or gun-metal Nissan Altima.
