MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A swimming advisory has been posted for the beach areas at Jungle Island, Hobie Island Beach Park, the Marine Stadium and the MAST Academy.
An overflow of wastewater from a pipe adjacent to the American Airlines Arena caused a wastewater release into the surrounding surface waters.
The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County and the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources are testing the affected waters, the advisory remains in effect until test results are clear.
Despite that, swimmers still took to the water across from Hobie Island Beach Park on Tuesday. Some of them ignored the swim advisory.
Advisory signs were allegedly posted in all the affected areas, but CBS4's Tiani Jones said some signs seemed to be missing. It's something that concerned some beach-goers.
"No sign, no nothing...kind of worried," said a beach-goer.
