PLANTATION (CBSMiami) -- Shattered glass littered a Subway restaurant in Plantation. Inside was a white SUV that had slammed into it Monday morning.

Plantation Fire officials said 19-year old Saima Milord, driving on a restricted license, slammed into the business located at 3935 Broward Boulevard just before 11 a.m. There was only one employee and one customer inside the business at the time.

Scott Gregory was riding his bike on the sidewalk in front of the store, he says, seconds before the crash.

"Bam, I saw that car going into the subway," said Gregory.

Police said Milord was driving northbound on State Road 7 when she lost control of the SUV. That's when she drove over a row of hedges, hit a Porsche then slammed into the business.

Milord did suffer minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Plantation Police said no one else was injured.

The subway store owner says normally, at that time of day, he would have been sitting out front doing paperwork  squarely in the path of the SUV. Once the pathfinder was pulled out, you could see the damage, the smashed front end, broken windshield and flat tires. It's not known why the driver lost control.

Officers said they will cite her for not having a licensed driver in the car with her.

Rona Thomas works a few doors down and said seeing the vehicle sticking out of the storefront made her think about her own safety.

"It was extremely scary and just the thought it could be here went thru my mind," said Thomas.

The business will remain closed for the rest of the day and possibly on Wednesday. The building has been deemed structurally safe, so surrounding businesses will remain open.
