WYNWOOD (CBSMiami) -- Police have released video of a young crook before and after he shot a woman in an armed robbery in hopes of identifying of him or his friends.

The victim, 20-year-old Erika Jemerson from Minnesota, had traveled to Miami to work the Dade County Fair.

On Monday, just after 6:30 p.m., at 25 N.W. 34th Street, she found herself confronted by an armed man who demanded her belongings.

"The robber pointed and threatened her with a gun," said City of Miami Police. "Once she exclaimed that she didn't have any money, he shot her once in the leg, snatched her cellular phone, and ran off."

A police report said he also pistol-whipped her in the face, and took her credit card and insurance card.

Video showed the guy walking with friends before the robbery. He was also caught on camera throwing the gun into a garbage bin afterward.

"It's very concerning to see that a woman was standing behind a building. She was smoking a cigarette when a man approached her, pointed a gun at her and demanded her belongings. She was willing to cooperate but what he did was snatch her phone and shoot her," said Ofc. Kenia Fallat. "We have recovered the weapon but we just need a bit more information. We need someone to lead us as to where he's at and who he is."

The suspect is believed to be between 16-19 years old and about 5'8" with distinct red sneakers.

"It's very disturbing to see that someone is trying to get away with shooting someone," Ofc. Fallat added. "Now, the victim is going to be able to live, but clearly, what you can see is he is brazen and just walked very casually away from what he has just done."

If you recognize him, or any of the other people in the video, contact Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS. There's a $3,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest. As always, tipsters can remain anonymous.
