Supermarket Thief To Cashier: "Don't Be The First One To Get Shot"

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A tense moment for an unsuspecting grocery cashier ended without harm despite a deadly threat from an armed robber.

Surveillance video from the Sedano's Supermarket at 2425 S.W. 8th Street on December 1st shows the crook first browse the store aisles before approaching a cashier at the checkout.

"The suspect showed the cashier he had a gun under his shirt, and demanded all the money from inside the cash register," said the Miami Police Dept. "The frightened employee stumbled to open the cash register, as the robber sternly exclaimed in Spanish, 'don't be the first one to get shot.'"

The cashier gave the guy the money and he quickly walked out of the store.

He's described as Hispanic, between 23 and 30 years old, approximately 5'8" or 5'9" and weighing about 180 lbs. He wore a white sweater and a dark-colored baseball cap.

Anyone with information that can help identify him is urged to call police.
