Stolen Truck Filled With 18 Tons Of Crisco Found In Hialeah

ST. PETERSBURG (CBSMiami/AP) —A truck filled with 18 tons of Crisco sticks and stolen from St. Petersburg has been recovered in South Florida.

But St. Petersburg police say they don't know whether the 36,000 pounds of the vegetable shortening was still inside the tractor trailer truck, which was found abandoned in Hialeah late Monday.

The truck was destined for a Publix distribution center in Lakeland when it was reported stolen on Sunday.

Authorities said the stolen tractor was a 2005 red Volvo, with a Florida tag and had the business name of "NS Express LLC on both sides of the cab. The trailer was a white Hyundai.
