Ivan Schneider, 82, said his 1967 Jaguar XKE was stolen in 1968 from outside his Manhattan apartment. Federal investigators recently found it during a seizure at the Los Angeles/Long Beach port complex. It was in a shipping crate bound for Europe.

"I don't believe it, I don't believe it, it's a miracle," said Schneider when he heard that it had been recovered.

Schneider said he can still remember the morning when he left for work and found find his then six month old car gone.

"I was heartbroken to say the least," said Schneider, "Never in anybody's lifetime did I think I'd see that car."

A routine U.S. Customs check at the Port of Los Angeles last month identified the car as stolen.

"The current owner that was shipping it out, he sold it to a person in the Netherlands. I found out he had it for 3 months, he bought it from a person up in Turlouch who had it for 40 years," said investigator Michael Maleta.

Schneider said when he last drove the car it had 6,000 miles on it. Today it has more than 28,000 miles on it.

Maleta said they are still tracking down who may have stolen it all those years ago.

Schneider said he plans to get his long-lost ride refurbished in New York before it's brought to him on Miami Beach.
