TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - The state's House quickly approved a series of bills Thursday morning that will set the stage for budget negotiations with the Senate.

The approvals were largely procedural and involved the House amending its budget proposals onto Senate bills.

Lawmakers are holding a special session because they did not pass a budget during this spring's regular legislative session. It's not clearwhen formal negotiations might start, though Senate President Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, said earlier that he hoped the "conference" negotiating process would start Friday night or Saturday morning.

The special session could continue through June 20. The state's new fiscal year starts July 1.
