State House Approves $80 Billion Budget

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - The Florida House has overwhelmingly approved a nearly $80 billion budget proposal for the fiscal year that starts July 1, an initial step toward negotiating a final spending plan with the Senate.

The House voted 85-29 to approve the $79.98 billion proposal. It also voted 96-17 to approve about $1 billion in tax cuts.

The Senate is expected to approve its version of the budget Thursday afternoon.
