Starbucks Testing Stout Beer Latte In Fla.

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) - Do you like lattes? How about stout beers? Well, Starbucks thinks these two can pair nicely.

The "Dark Barrel Latte" is meant to elicit the "savory toasty malt" flavor of a mug stout.

The new latte is being tested in a handful of stores in Florida and Ohio, said Linda Mills, a Starbucks spokeswoman.

Mills said the drink is topped with whipped cream, dark caramel drizzle and incorporates a "chocolatey stout flavored sauce."

Coffee drinkers won't be getting a buzz from the beverage. Despite the flavor, it contains no alcohol.

Starbucks' baristas received their latte reference sheets a month ago. It explains how to make the drink and answer customer questions about it.

Some customers have already taken to social media to describe the taste.

One man posted on his Instagram, "My new favorite flavor. Like Guinness with cream in it."

A customer on Twitter wrote:

Starbucks Corp., based in Seattle, has enjoyed strong sales growth in part by continually introducing new food and drinks.

The company has said it would expand its test of serving alcohol and small bites in the evening to more stores, for instance.
