Star Wars: The Force Awakens Soars To 2nd Biggest U.S. Movie Ever

A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY... (CBSMiami) -- Star Wars: The Force Awakens has flown past another milestone in the U.S., surpassing Titanic and Jurassic World to become the second highest grossing movie of all-time.

The seventh entry into the Star Wars universe blew past the domestic gross box office numbers of both Jurassic World ($652 million), the fourth movie in that franchise, and Titanic ($658 million), which was the biggest box office hit ever at the time of its release.

The Force Awakens has earned more than $740 million in just 17 days since its December 18th release.

The movie is not far behind the top domestic film of all-time -- Avatar with $760 million.
