South Florida Lawmaker Wants Online Lottery Tickets

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - How would you like to buy those weekly Florida Lotto or Powerball tickets online and skip waiting in line at the grocery or convenience store?

A South Florida lawmaker wants to make it happen.

Sen. Gwen Margolis filed a bill last Friday which would give the Florida Lottery the authority to create and run a program for online purchases of lottery tickets.

The will be considered during the 2016 legislative session.

Many Republicans including Gov. Rick Scott oppose selling tickets online.
