Soldinger: Butch Davis is 'The Guy' For Miami Hurricanes

"This is a funny dynamic," former Miami Hurricanes assistant Don Soldinger said on the Joe Rose Show, "You gotta have somebody that really understands the whole situation here. A lot of people say this is an attractive job. I don't know how attractive it is. You walk into a Florida, you walk into an LSU, you walk into an Alabama, it's a totally different dynamic than walking into the University of Miami. You gotta have somebody that knows the landscape, knows what's going on, knows the city.... I would go with somebody that's done it before."

Who is Don's pick?

"I think they all have their strong suits and some have their weaknesses," he said of the obvious candidates with Miami ties. "They're all UM guys and of course the guy I worked with 11 years I think is the guy. He's only 63... Butch [Davis] is the guy. Really he doesn't need to say anything. Just take a look at his record. He was exonerated at North Carolina. Take a look at what he's done. The guy is a phenomenal recruiter. He's a very organized guy and he surrounds himself with great people."
