LAKELAND (CBSMiami/AP) — Police said a sleeping passenger told them he had no idea that the driver had been fatally shot.

When Lakeland police arrived at an apartment complex Sunday morning, they found a suspicious car parked outside the clubhouse.

Inside, 22-year-old Tyler Robert McQueen was sitting in the driver's seat and had been fatally shot. Brandon Burkett was inside McQueen's car asleep.

Burkett told police he was sleeping and didn't hear the shooting. Authorities said he has been cooperative.

No other details were released.
