Shots Fired At Davie Police While They Investigate A Crash

Davie (CBSMiami) - One person is in custody after they reportedly shot Davie police officers who were responding to a crash at Griffin Road and State Road 7.

The two cars collided around 2 a.m.

"One of the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene and shot at one of the officers on the scene. The officer was not shot, not hit," said Davie police Det. Vivian Gallinal.

The gunman was captured a short distance away, near a construction site and a Wendy's restaurant. Hours after the shooting, police continued to look for clues, they even sent a dive team into the storm drains.

As police try to figure this out, the one big question yet to be answered is 'what's behind all this?'

"It's still under investigation. The motive as to why this subject would have fled and shot at officers is unknown," said Gallinal.

No one was injured in the shooting and Davie police said no shots were fired by officers.
