Shoplifter Strips To Escape Oakland Park Store

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A shoplifter desperate to escape from an employee that caught him, rushed out of a Oakland Park store without a shirt.

Deputies are currently searching for the shirtless shoplifter.

According to deputies, on the evening of March 27, the manager of a Family Dollar, located at 2901 W. Oakland Park Boulevard, caught the man after she noticed him hiding behind an aisle, shoving several items into his pants.

Surveillance cameras caught the whole struggle.

The manager confronted the shoplifter and the man tried to make a run for it but the manager grabbed the man's arms.

Deputies said the man yelled for her to let go but she would not and continued to struggle until she pulled his sweater off his body.

The shirtless shoplifter then ran off and escaped in a dark red truck with partial Florida tag of "BED."

The man got away with more than a hundred dollars worth of Aleve and batteries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
