Shooting Led To Deadly Crash In Pompano Beach

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - An early morning shooting led to a deadly crash in Pompano Beach.

I began around 5 a.m., when two people got into an argument with a couple in the 2900 block of Dixie Highway. The Broward Sheriff's Office said as the confrontation grew more heated, one of the subjects pulled a gun and fired several shots at the man and woman - neither were hit.

The armed individual and the second person jumped then sped off. The couple followed them.

The sheriff's office said it ended when the suspects car crashed in the northbound lanes of I-95 just north of Sample Road.

The driver of the car, 23-year old Ivan Parra, was killed. His passenger was taken to Broward Health North in serious condition.

Detectives with the sheriff's office's Violent Crimes division are handling the shooting portion of the incident. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
