Shooting At Checkers Restaurant In Pembroke Park

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating an overnight shooting at a Checkers in Pembroke Park.

It happened in the early morning hours at the restaurant at 4000 Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

CBS4's Rielle Creighton reports there were half a dozen evidence markers on the ground next to bullet casings and two bullet holes in a pillar in front of the restaurant.

Surveillance video from a nearby business shows a white SUV go through the drive-thru at about 4 a.m., minutes later employees can be seen exiting the restaurant and the SUV circles back around and someone inside opens fire.

One employee appears to be hit and begins limping, at first in the direction of the SUV before he collapses. The Broward Sheriff's Office confirms one worker was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital.

The shooting is still under investigation, the gunman remains on the loose.
