CLEARWATER (AP) — Authorities say the death of an inmate at a Tampa Bay-area jail does not appear to be suspicious.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, 58-year-old Timothy Matthews died early Sunday at the jail in Clearwater.

Detectives say Matthews had complained of chest pains and collapsed while in his housing area. According to the sheriff's office, Matthews had no injuries and had not been involved in any confrontations.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

Matthews had been serving a 364-day sentence after pleading guilty Sept. 5 to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
