ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) — An out-of-state law enforcement officer, vacationing in Orlando, was carjacked in his hotel parking lot and briefly kidnapped by four men, authorities said.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said at a news conference Thursday that the unidentified officer was walking to his car near International Drive Wednesday night when he was approached by the men who forced him into his vehicle at gunpoint. Over the next few hours, he was robbed and pistol whipped while the men drove around.

At some point, the men abandoned the vehicle and the officer was able to summon help. He was treated for a head wound that required stitches.

Demings says deputies are working with the FBI to locate the men.
