Shabazz Napier Declared Out For Season

The Miami Heat's injury list continues to swell, with the team announcing Wednesday rookie point guard Shabazz Napier will be out for the remainder of the regular season after undergoing sports hernia surgery.

Selected 24th overall in last year's NBA Draft, the former Connecticut Husky appeared in 51 games (10 starts) this season for the Heat, averaging 5.1 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.2 rebounds on 38-percent shooting from the field and 36-percent shooting from the 3-point line. Napier exceeded double-digits in points 11 times.

He has not been declared out for the playoffs (if the Heat were to hold on) but he hasn't registered significant minutes since March 7, likely due to the productive rise of fellow rookie Tyler Johnson.

The Heat take on the Cavs in Cleveland Thursday night.
