Sentencing Day Set For Sandor Guillen In Kaely Camacho Hit & Run Case
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Sentencing day has been set for the man convicted in the DUI manslaughter of South Florida teenager Kaely Camacho.
The judge ruled June 6th will be the day Guillen is sentenced.
Guillen, who was in court Monday, failed at yet another attempt to be released on bond before his sentencing.
A jury found Guillen guilty of DUI manslaughter on March 3rd in the death of 13-year-old Kaely Camacho.
The unanimous verdict also found him guilty of vehicular homicide, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Guillen's blood-alcohol level was nearly triple the legal limit. He was discovered walking, bloodied and evasive, in a field near the scene of the wreck and his DNA matched the blood on the airbag of the SUV that plowed into the Camacho family minivan, shearing it in half and killing Kaely on April 13, 2012. Guillen was also illegally driving in the Miami-Dade busway when the crash happened.
Guillen faces up to 30 years in prison for his crimes.
