COCONUT CREEK (CBSMiami) - The search is on for a man who reportedly exposed himself to a teen.

The 16-year-old girl was walking in the 3400 block of Cocoplum Circle on her way home from school Wednesday afternoon when a man drove up beside her in a silver Honda Civic, asked for directions, and then exposed himself.

The teen walked away and the man drove off.

"We all parents, we have children, you know, you don't want this to happen to our kids," said Karoline Wilkan.

For so many like Wilkan, walking around their quiet neighborhood is just part of the daily routine.

"I walk him every morning so it's kind of a little shocking," she said. "I definitely feel nervous about that."

"That's scary, especially if you don't know how to defend yourself in situations," said Angie Posada who lives close to where it happened.

She said it's not exactly surprising, but she didn't think it would happen in her neighborhood.

"There are creeps everywhere," she said, "Hopefully it won't happen again."

Police said while the man never tried to touch the girl or lure her into his car, he's still a predator who that needs to be caught.

Anyone with information on the man, or anyone who had this happen to them, should contact the Coconut Creek police department at (954) 973-6700.
