School employee questioned after gun found in classroom of Miami-Dade private school

MIAMI -- Police said that an employee at Atlantis Academy Miami was questioned after a gun was found in the worker's bag on the campus of the southwest Miami-Dade school..

No injuries were reported from the incident at the private school, which is located at SW 108th Avenue and 72nd Street in the Kendall area. 

According to police, the employee, who was not immediately identified, was detained and questioned by officers from the Department of Homeland Security. 

The weapon was apparently found by someone else.

When contacted by CBS News Miami, someone who answered the phone hung up after saying "no comment."

According to the school's website, Atlantis is a K-12 private school that works to teach students with learning differences and various abilities.

The website said the school's "unique educational program includes individualized attention and specialized instruction, while providing the behavioral, social and emotional supports necessary for students to achieve goals and reach their full potential."
