Man Rescued From Sailboat Fire Off Hallandale Beach

HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) -- Crews rescued a man after a sailboat went up in flames off Hallandale Beach Thursday morning.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said they got a may day call and responded to the area.

Chopper4 was over the scene where you could see a sailboat engulfed in flames about 4 miles off of Hallandale Boulevard around 8 a.m.

U.S. Coast Guard, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, Broward Fire Rescue and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene.

Crews were able to put out the fire after more than an hour later and rescue the man who was smiling. CBS4's Tiani Jones said he looked fine and didn't appear to have any injuries. He was taken to a Fort Lauderdale Police substation at a marina off southeast 15th Street.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
