MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Royal Caribbean says they found out one of their guests went overboard after another passenger saw and reported it.

The company issued a statement on the matter Monday morning saying in part,

"On Friday, March 4, 2016, at approximately 10:55 p.m., a guest onboard Navigator of the Seas reported that they had witnessed another guest going overboard from their stateroom balcony."

The company said they reviewed camera footage and saw 46-year old David Mossman go overboard from one of the decks somewhere off the coast of Key Largo- prompting a search.

The ship's crew along with the Coast Guard searched for Mossman but were unable to locate him. On Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard cancelled the search after covering more than two thousand square nautical miles.

The ship has since returned to Port Everglades after a six-night trip that included Georgetown, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Haiti.

The company says they are providing support to Mossman's family who is from Texas.
