MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  Actress Robin Wright says she demanded the same pay as her "House of Cards" co-star Kevin Spacey and got it.

Wright plays Claire Underwood - the wife of Spacey's character Frank Underwood in the popular Netflix series.

The Huffington Post reports Wright said she demanded equal pay after seeing statistics that showed her character was more popular than Spacey's for a certain amount of time.

She reportedly threatened to "go public" with the matter if she did not get paid equally.

"It was the perfect paradigm. There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in 'House of Cards,'" said Wright during an interview with the president of The Rockefeller Foundation.

Wright is part of a growing group of women in Hollywood that are becoming more vocal about equal pay issues.
