Athletes To Hit South Beach For Triathlon Sunday

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) -- Thousands of athletes are expected to attend the  2014 Life Time South Beach Triathlon  on Sunday morning.

Athletes will  swim, bike and run through the sun and sand of South Beach, all to raise money to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The triathlon is scheduled to start at 6:45 a.m. and last until about 11: 00 a.m. when the awards ceremony takes place.  Until then, there will be lane reductions throughout the area.

All the roads are expected to be reopened by 11: 00 a.m. but most of the roadways will be clear before then.

There will be lane reductions on parts of 5th Street  between Ocean Drive- Alton Road, MacArthur Causeway, parts of NE 2nd Ave, Ocean Drive and the Julia Tuttle Causeway.
