Riders Rescued From Universal's Transformers Ride

ORLANDO (CBSMiami) - Blame the Decepticons for this one.

Riders on the Transformers: The Ride - 3D ride at Universal Studios in Orlando had to be evacuated by firefighters after the ride came to a screeching halt Tuesday morning. Some stuck on the ride called area television stations that they had been stuck for an hour before help arrived.

The Orlando Fire Department removed a dozen people from the ride using a safety harness and rope, no injuries were reported. Guests were removed from the ride vehicle individually via safety harness and rope.

The rescue took about 16 minutes, according to the fire department.

Universal Resort Orlando officials have not said what caused the ride to malfunction.

The ride, which debuted last summer, is based on characters from the "Transformers" movie series which pitted the good guy Autobots led by Optimus Prime against the evil Decepticons led by Megatron. During the ride, guests are taken on a simulated high-speed battle between large robots.
