MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – A man had to be rescued by firefighters after his head got caught in exercise equipment at a hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

The incident happened Wednesday at the W Fort Lauderdale as the man was doing a shoulder workout in the hotel's gym, Capt. Greg May of the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Department told the Sun Sentinel. May says the man apparently fell off the machine and his head got caught in a weight machine.

A fire-rescue team was able to manipulate his head out of the machine by using a bar.

The man was about 60 years old. Officials say the man had significant injuries but was alert when he was taken to Broward Health Medical Center.
