Report: Miami Marlins To Host 2017 All-Star Game

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The Miami Marlins are reportedly hosting the 2017 Major League All-Star game.

Neither the Marlins nor Major League Baseball will confirm it but, according to our news partners the Miami Herald, the deal is done.

The Marlins had hoped to get the Mid-Summer Classic right after Marlins Park opened three years ago. They had been turned down until this year.

Fans not only love the all-star game, but other events like the Home Run Derby. Baseball awarded the game to South Florida 15 years ago, but yanked it after the Marlins dismantled their first World Series team.

This might be one of the last times the All-Star Game is awarded this way. Baseball might soon creating a bidding process like the National Football League does with the Super Bowl.
