Local Fighting Legend Kimbo Slice Has Died

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Kimbo Slice, the South Florida native who first gained internet fame as a backyard brawler, has died.

Authorities said they never received a call, police or medical, to his residence in Coral Springs.

Coral Springs police said they got involved only after they started receiving national media attention and calls.

A family source confirmed to ET that the 42-year-old fighter, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, died of heart failure.

Slice, who got his start in street fighting, fought for Elite XC, UFC, and Bellator MMA throughout his 9-year career, which also included stints in boxing and professional wrestling.
