Report: Lane Kiffin Hired By Florida Atlantic University

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Another big-name college football coach is coming to a Florida school.

Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has been hired to be the next head coach of Florida Atlantic University's football team, according to ESPN.

The state of Florida now features some of the top head coaches in all of college football, with Mark Richt at the University of Miami, Jimbo Fisher at Florida State, Butch Davis at Florida International University and Charlie Strong at the Univetrsity of South Florida.

Kiffin has worked under Nick Saban at Alabama for the past three seasons.

Prior to that, Kiffin was the head coach at the University of Southern California (2010-2013) and the University of Tennessee (2009).

He coached the NFL's Oakland Raiders in 2007 and 2008 but his time in Oakland ended in a very public firing by former owner Al Davis.

Kiffin will remain with Alabama through the NCAA postseason before taking over Florida Atlantic.
