Report: Dolphins To Pursue LT Branden Albert

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – Every team in the National Football League knows the Miami Dolphins will be looking for a lot of help along the offensive line during free agency. The Fins reportedly are targeting a player the team nearly acquired last year, left tackle Branden Albert.

According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, the Fins will make a pitch for Albert to join the team as its new starting left tackle. Albert has at times been a solid player in the NFL, but has battled injuries each year he's been in the league.

Pro Football Focus ranked Albert 29th among all tackles last season, which could undercut his desire for a huge salary in free agency. But, Miami will have plenty of competition for the services of the multi-year starter as Arizona and Tampa Bay are reportedly interested in pursuing Albert.

Assuming he's healthy, Albert would provide the Dolphins with a quality left tackle for the next few seasons and allow the team to focus on other positions along the offensive line in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Dolphins, according to the Herald, also may make contract offers to both defensive tackles Randy Starks and Paul Soliai before free agency begins. Both will hit free agency on March 11 if they don't re-sign with the Dolphins before then.
