MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin after the team lost three straight games in ugly fashion.

Philbin had long been considered on the hot seat after previously coaching the Dolphins to three average-at-best seasons.

It was no secret that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross wanted things to work under Philbin, and now a report has emerged that would further prove that point.

According to CBS Sports, Dolphins Vice President of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum lobbied for Miami to hire Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn following the end of the 2014 season, but Ross dismissed the idea.

Quinn ended up taking a job with the Atlanta Falcons, who moved to 5-0 on Sunday after defeating the Washington Redskins in overtime.
