Rep. Radel Ready To Get Back To Congress

CAPE CORAL (CBSMiami/AP) – After his stint in rehab, a Florida congressman who pleaded guilty to cocaine possession said he's ready to get back to work.

Republican Rep. Trey Radel says he's looking forward to representing his southwest Florida constituents in Washington.

In November, Radel pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of cocaine possession and was sentenced to a year of probation. He admitted to purchasing 3.5 grams of cocaine from an undercover officer in Washington on Oct. 29.

The House Ethics Committee is investigating his conduct.

The 37-year-old freshman has resisted calls from several GOP leaders, including Gov. Rick Scott, to resign. Last month, Radel pledged to regain the trust of his constituents by redoubling his legislative efforts in the capital.
