MIAMI (CBSMiami/NSF) --  Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam is urging Floridians to develop "wildfire action" plans citing more than 30 active wildfires.

He is asking the public to be prepared if future wildfires threaten their homes.

"Florida experiences a year-round wildfire season with drought levels and wildfire risk increasing during the spring and summer months, so it's important always to be prepared,'' Putnam, whose agency includes the Florida Forest Service and crews that fight wildfires, said in a statement released by his office.
