AVENTURA (CBSMiami) -- The 1984 classic that helped catapult Prince to super stardom, "Purple Rain," is returning to the big screen across AMC theaters in the U.S. this weekend.

The film earned Prince an Oscar for Best Original Song Score and the platinum-selling soundtrack released alongside it earned him two Grammy awards. Two singles from the album hit No. 1 -- "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy" -- and the album's title track, "Purple Rain," went to number two on the Billboard.

Movie showings run Saturday through Thursday at AMC in Aventura. Saturday showings are listed for 1:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

On Thursday, the 57-year-old Prince was found dead at his home in Minnesota.

An autopsy was performed Friday to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities said it could take several weeks before his cause of his death is confirmed.
