ATLANTA (CBSMiami/AP) — Travelers across the country are feeling the impact of an issue at one major airport.

Authorities say a power outage at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has disrupted ingoing and outgoing flights.

Airport spokesman Reese McCraine says the outage occurred early Sunday afternoon. He says all airport operations are being affected and that outgoing flights were halted.

McCraine says some incoming flights are being diverted to other airports in the region.

Georgia Power said it was working to find out the cause and restore electricity. The airport said on its Facebook page that departures were delayed because airport equipment in the terminals is not working.

The Federal Aviation Administration, meanwhile, has implemented a "ground stop" for flights headed to the airport.

A ground stop means that flights headed to Atlanta are held on the ground at their departure airport.

One such traveler, Grammy Award winning singer Travis Tritt, was scheduled to fly to Atlanta from Fort Lauderdale but is stuck in South Florida while the problem is worked on.
