Postal Worker Popped With Pipe, Robbed

PEMBROKE PARK (CBSMiami) – A postal worker, according to police, was struck in the head with a metal pipe and robbed Thursday afternoon.

Two males were involved in the robbery of a letter carrier, a 20 year veteran, at 3404 SW 52ND Avenue around 2:55 PM Thursday, according to Broward Sheriff's Office.

Police say the thieves came from behind, hit the postal worker on the head with a metal pipe, and got away with some of the mailman's keys.

The mailman was able to call for help and was transported by Hallandale Fire Rescue to Memorial Regional.

The postal worker is expected to be OK.

If caught, the two man face federal charges.
