Port Canaveral Named Best North American Homeport

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — Port Canaveral nabbed the top spot when it comes to North American ports.
Cruise Critic said Monday that the port on Florida's Space Coast was named "Best North American Homeport" in a 2015 survey of its editors.
Cruise Critics described Port Canaveral as one of the most "up and coming" cruise hubs in North America.
The selection was welcome news for Port Canaveral whose leadership has been in turmoil with the recent resignation of its chief executive.
Port Canaveral CEO John Walsh said last month that he would resign in January after two Port Authority commissioners indicated they were prepared to fire him.
Walsh had been criticized recently for making disparaging remarks about opponents.
